we all know the auto trans is marginal at best ,so how about the sticks? nv4500/g5600/ect. what problems do they have as most 600+hp trucks seem to have them.

I am not so sure if the automatics are "marginal". My friend bought a brand new 98 to pull his fifth wheel, destroyed his stick no less than 5 times in less than 100k miles. My ol 97 has an automatic, has pulled a heavy fifth wheel most of its 180k miles is going strong. It did have an owner that as preventative maintenance overhauled it back at around 150k, but it never broke. Personally I call the sticks "marginal".

I was referring to bombed trucks, as my next one will be a stick i would like to know how they hold up to the 600+hp it will have. Did your friend rebuild or replace the trans? what was the problem??
