I think my T-case is screwed up. It won't go into 4wd but it will go into low range, but the front tires won't lock in. I replaced the vaccum acuator and it didn't fix it. So that made me think the T-case is screwed. Will the parts from a 3rd gen T-case go into mine? I know where I can get one. Just wondering. Thanks

Eric

Im not positive, but i dont believe the 3rd gen uses the 241. Could be wrong. Check first to see if the front drive shaft is turning. That will tell you if the x-case is ok.

As easy as it is to take your transfercase out of your truck, it is just as easy to take it apart and fix-it yourself. So if you do end up determining that the case is the problem there are many places like Midwest trans and driveline.com that can sell you the parts to fix this unit and it will save you in excess of $800. 00.

Make sure the front axle is locking in first, if the light on the dash is not lighting up its not locked in.

Sounds alot more like a vacuum problem than a tcase problem. The transfercase should atleast be making some sort ot weird noise if it's in bad shape.

I also think it is a vacuum problem. I don't see it going into low range without locking in the front shaft. Put it in low range and grab the front shaft with a pipe wrench. You should be able to verify that the transfer case has really locked in the front shaft.

The vacuum does, however come from the transfer case. There is a quick disconnect plug on the top of the case that sources the vacuum.
