Can anyone tell me the appoximate capacities of the transfer case and front diff? I was going to refill both with the Amsoil SevereGear. 75w90. Also, i noticed that my front axle endplay seems a bit excessive, about 5/8-3/4". Is this endplay needed for steering or can it be shimmed out? Thanx to all... .

Check Chart lube reference calls out the following:

Transfer Case, Just shy of 3 quarts (5. 9 pints) whether a NP241 or the NP208

Takes a Dexron or ATF+3

Front Diff - 3. 3 quarts for a Spicer 60 or 2. 85 quarts for a Spicer 44

calls out a 80W140, 85W140 or 80W90 (a 75W90 would work as well)

I was under the impression it was a NP205, how do I tell the difference? Also, in my almost useless dodge manual it calls for sae90W in the transfer case, which is correct?

Your're both correct, redram is giving you the specs for a second gen, your first gen takes gear oil in the transfercase not ATF.

From my 93' factory manual it says,

6. 5 pints in front diff. (Dana 60)

4. 5 pints in transfer case(NP-205)
