Hi guys... Still driving the '08!

Had a rather wet spring and heading into town ran into some rally crappy roads. Ended up with some dings and flashes, Brake and ABS light on and no 4x4. Only code I could pull was a DT121 - Unknown. :{ Thought I might have blown a speed sensor but while crawling around under the old girl I noticed a broken connector with a number of cables attached to what I believe is the Transfer Case Control Motor. (I have the 6 speed manual transmission). SO I am thinking that might be the issue! Any one had any experience with a similar problem or locating a replacement motor?

Any info is always appreciated!!! Thanks TDR'ERS!!

Yep just ordered it... You know... I was in 4x4 on a muddy grid road and the mud must have pushed the connector over to the point of failure... Which begs the question why are such rather delicate components sitting out and exposed? While crawling around I noticed a large cable cluster and connector sitting exposed behind the driver side front wheel well... Again seems rather exposed for a truck intended for more severe duty than a run to the mall.....

I've been running dodges up and down the "haul road" here in Alaska and have never had an issue with 4x4 or any of the wiring you mentioned. As far as the transfer case controller goes, maybe you should fab up a skid plate?

My 4x4 shift motor went on my co workers 06- his locked in 4WD. He bought a new one from Dodge. Then mine went clunk on day when shifting it in 4WD and clunk going back out, then nothing the next time. I was able to find a 1 yr old rebuilt t case with shift motor for the same price ad Doge wanted for a new motor. It was easy to change. David

Just fyi, a couple years ago Ram went from using NV transfer cases to BW. Hopefully the BW shift motors will be very reliable, because the only model where you can get the manual transfer case in 2013-4 is the Tradesman.

I believe you can purchase reman 4x4 encoders for these trucks priced reasonably at most part stores.Rock auto has them for $150-165.

Been Busy lately but we replaced the motor and all seemed fine but the next day it wouldn't shift out of 4x4. After much digging around we found a broken wire on the rear speed sensor. Once fixed up all worked as designed....
