Archived transfer case dissasembly

Can I take off the tailshaft of the transfer case in my truck to check the status of the c-clip without any replacement gaskets? if I need a gasket can I get it somewhere on a weekend? thx

Unfortunately no. The gaskets come in a tube, silicone.

Anybody know where I can get the c clip if I need it, other than the dealership?

Got it apart but the c-clip looks ok what else might cause a bang/grind noise from t-case area? only happens occasionally when there is a load on truck. but its a scary sound.

You talking about a snap ring? There's no C clips in a T Case that I know of.

Well when you said C Clip, I was thinking more like axle C Clip. Had me confused.

I had a horrible sound coming from that area and it turned out to be the U-joints in the front drive shaft. Good luck!

looks like the transfer case is shot... found a piece of melted plastic in the oil when I drained it and the oil was burnt. ordered a new t-case from transfer case express.
