Used the 4-H in a wet snow yesterday and shifted out when I got home.

Today the transfer case shifts but does not engage, no light on dash. where do I begin? 1997 extended cab automatic.

The transfer case alone does not make the light come on, it's the disconnect on the front axle that does that.

Look and see if the vacuum lines may have been popped off yesterday from the heavy snow.

I also have had them almost freeze, sometimes you have to drive a little ways to get things warmed up before the collar in the disconnect will move.

Just a few quick thoughts. .

Mike. :):)

Gives me a good place to start, the owner's manual and service manual do not really trouble shoot this issue. Thank you

What mwilson said. Also, turning on the light by closing the PB switch is the LAST thing the CAD does after engaging the right side axle... so you might be engaged but not know it. Follow the above mentioned checklist.
