Just got info on a possible source of leaking fluid... . Anyone know anything about this... . soft plug is on the drive shaft yoke on the inside where it slides onto the rear output shaft of the transfere case, so it won't leak around he splines coming out of the t-case.

This quote came from a fellow TDR member regarding a leak on a Chev Truck not ours. Does anyone know if there is a "Soft Plug" sorta thing on the inside of our yokes coming out of the transfer case? I just cannot see where the fluid is coming from & after about 4 mos. I'm down about 1\2 qt of trans fluid in the transfer case... ...

Don't know if it is soft plug or not but there is some red grease like substance on the inside groove of a new xfer case seal. I just replaced the seal this weekend after 185K miles. Seal was $42 at local five star. Takes about 30 minutes to replace. New seal stopped my leak

Mine's been "oozing" for the past two years. I plan on replacing it when I pull the driveshaft for the clutch replacement I'll soon be doing. A mechanic I was talking to mentioned that he'd changed a bunch of these output seals and that leaky ones are common. It's quick and cheap to replace, though.
