AGE OLD DEBATE: COLD AIR INTAKE vs STOCK AIR BOX

Well, my linkage rod popped out of the case arm. A quick search on Rock Auto shows a Dorman bushing, #14078 as a replacement. However, there’s some conflicting info in its description involving a cable, etc. the application chart seems to encourage its the right item.
Has anyone had this happen, and what did you use as a replacement?

Wayne,

That's the correct part... had two disintigrate on the 03 Ram 2500 and one on the 4500.

I still have one as a spare.

Easy to replace.

Cheers, Ron

Looks kike the same one used in manual setup. I just turned down a piece of brass on the lathe and put it on. Won't disintegrate. It does rattle sometimes though. I reckon thats why they use rubber.

I do have the manual shift case. I should have mentioned. Does the electric shift setup involve a cable?

More I’m thinking about it, realizing this is somewhat common, I do think copious amounts of fluid film may have helped this along.

When my bushings gave up last year I got the whole linkage assembly on Ebay for about $12.

They ended up sending 2 for some reason so I have a spare... ;)

Hi Wayne M. I replaced mine recently, no cable that I'm aware of. Purchase two of the above item from local auto parts. I purchased the first from dealer at more than twice the price of the second from auto parts after I realized it too needed replacement.
