I had to put a quart of ATF in my transfer case. It does not drip on the driveway however it is slinging fluid under the truck(floor board is covered with fluid). I have check the vent hose and it is free flowing. My question is how hard is it to change the transfer case seal? I have 120k on the truck.

Other than making sure you get the CORRECT seal the first time around, it is fairly painless to change.

You drop the drive shaft...

I believe there is enough "ridge" to tap the seal out of the tail shaft. Then simply tap the new one home. Grease the new seal and the driveshaft. And reinstall the driveshaft.

I replaced my seal and it didn't help.

If you look down in the yoke, there is a sheet metal cap pressed into place. I poured a little epoxy around the cap and it cleared the leak right up.

Use brake cleaner and compressed air to clean the surface.

Thanks for the tip

I guess i will be busy this weekend. Thanks

I had my yoke replaced with an updated one under warranty. The updated yoke is solid with no plug in it. Much better design.
