I have a transfer case noise that is driving me absolutly nuts... Its not internally inside the case, and its not a metal on metal sound. It sounds like the platic around the shift boot is rubbing on the cup holder console and makes a rubber on plastic type squeeling sound (sounds alot like cutting styrofoam with a knife). Has anybody else noticed this? Cruising down the road it annoys me so bad, it didnt do this new. I hate to whine about such a small problem, but dang its annoying me, its louder than my radio at a tolerable level. If I hold the shift lever on the transfer case the sound stops... is there anyway to tighten this up so it stops this racket?

If you do a search, I think you will find it is the plastic bushings for the tcase shifter... pop the tcase shifter boot out and spray the linkage with lubricating oil...
