Can anyone with a 4X4 2003 tell me if the transfer case model NVG-271 has a slip yoke or is a bolt on yoke for the rear driveshaft ? Also do all of the NVG-271's have a PTO provision on them ? Any info would be great. Thanks in advance, Thomas

Peter Campbell, I looked at the NVG page , not much info. I noticed that the model 271 was way serious when the Super duty's started using it in 1999. I would like to up-grade to a 271 but I would like to use a bolt on rear yoke. The Ford version is a bolt on but I would have to change out the input gear to the 1-1/2" 29 spline to work w/ my 5600. I have checked w/a tech at NVG and he stated that the Ford version has the same bolt pattern as what we are using and that I could change the female input gear to join a Ford case to the NVG 5600. I am hoping that the 2003 Dodge case offers a bolt on yoke to help out on the modifacations to an already EXSPENSIVE transfer case.

Thanks for the info and if You have any suggestions I am all ears.

Thomas

NVG 271

I have seen several 03 trucks with the NVG 271 in them, all of them have a slip yoke setup, Sorry guys!

I agree the bolt on unit would be best. In a emergency you could unbolt the rear driveline and still drive with the front drive engaged. We had to do it with my buddies old Jeep many years ago as we broke the yoke at the u-joint 4 wheelin out in the hills.

We made it back on front wheel drive.

Pics not working

I just tried the link and it seems to be working fine. I will check it from my home computer tonight just to verify. Right now I only have my work computer. Sorry about the inconvience.

agoldbach, GREAT pic's. Thanks a bunch for posting !!! Sorry to hear and see that the Dodge version of the 271 has a slip yoke... My local Dodge dealer has not gotten any 4x4's yet so this is the first I have seen of them. Thanks again, Thomas
