My transfer case is leaking ATF at the output shaft (rear drive shaft). It is the 241hd. How bad is this going to be to replace, and does anyone have the instructions for it?

Part #'s? Best place to get the parts (not the stea... dealer)?

On a happy note, it is doing a wonderful job of keeping the linkage on my exhaust brake well lubed.

Very easy to replace. There is a lip on the seal that if you take a straight blade screw driver to and gently beat the seal towards the rear axle. I think the seal cost me around 12 bucks from the deal. Then to reinstall it just take a pipe or a large socket, or if you know someone that has a seal installer and beat it back in.

Are you sure it is the seal? There is a rubber plug on top of the extension housing.

Plug leaking= oil all over the tailshaft/case

seal leakiung = oil slung around and on the bottom of the bed directly above the spinning yoke.
