Has anyone removed a NV241 and replaced it with a NV272? Let me know what parts were needed to do the swap? Was it worth it? TIA, Sam.

Width

I am concerned with the width of the NV272. The NV272 is about 3" larger when measuring width. I am concerned with the driveline angle. Who has a 3rd gen with this transfer case can look under your truck and tell me how straight the front driveshaft? Thanks, Sam.

BigBadDodge did it in his 97. There was a clearance issue on the drivers side frame. He cut it out and welded some supports in it.

If you are talking about the 271 BBD and I have done it. BBD notched his frame but I did not and I have not had any issues. Other than drive shaft lenghts the only thing I found that needed changed was you have to buy a posi lock to activate the front axle because 3 gens don't have a C. A. D. .

TJSHOTROD... How did you fit the 271 without notching the frame. I'm gonna do the same swap pretty soon and I thought I needed to cut on the frame. Did you upgrade the u-joints? About how much did it cost to get the driveshafts modified and u-joints?

It is close to the frame but it did not need notched. I paid $1200 for the t-case $180 to install it, I was to busy and like $300 to extend to front shaft and put a new bolt on flange on the front of the rear shaft. The 271 has a bolt on flange instead of a slip yoke.
