My A/T and t-case were just out for repair and now there is a drip on the floor (transfer case fluid) at the seal between the shaft and the t-case. What is this seal called and what needs to be done to repair? I will call installer but wanted to know what I was talking about when I did.

Here is a thread about your problem.

I've had the same problem as you and it's a reoccuring problem. The part number is 5086054AA. This is for the output shaft seal.

Be aware that sometimes the problem is not the seal but the Input shaft itself. Fluid can possibly come out the end of the input shaft causing Transfer case fluid to be flung all over the underneath of the truck. Look at that possibility if you replace the seal and it does not solve your problem.

Sometimes when the driveshaft is removed and installed again as would be the case during your repairs, the rear tailshaft seal will leak for a few days. Mine did the last time my transmission was removed and it quit in a couple of days. That may be what happens to you. If not, that's a very easy seal to replace.
