Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) Transfer case went boom.

Well after a mere 310,000 miles my transfer case has broken.

Or at least thats my first thought.

I initially thought it was the input shaft again.

I was on the throttle hard and all of a sudden there was a slight bang then no forward movement.

Being 20 miles from the nearest paved road I was a bit worried.

I'm not sure why I thought to try 4 wd high but I'm glad I did.

So far I have traveled over 200 miles in 4 high.

I now know why our trucks are not front wheel drive.

I'm sure my transfer case is going to be junk.



Anyone know where I can find a transfer case in So Cal. ?

241 LD or HD?

Not in So Cal but in Nor Cal, Oakland to be exact, Transfer Case Express will hook you up. I had them ship me a remanned 271 case when my 241HD failed me. So far the 271 has lived up to it's durability and I am only sled pulling with it.

Turns out the T-case is a-ok!

I broke the driverside rear axle!

Any axle tips?
