Has anyone ever been through their T case.

I have a humming and a rattle that i think is comming from the t case.

Just wondering if they are very difficult.

thanks

Adam

Nope they are very simple just make sure that you get the oil pump pickup back in position. There are very few parts in that thing.

Hi Adam,

Does it do it all the time or in 4WD? How about with the T-case in neutral?

You can remove the back half (including the chain and sprockets) without pulling it out. The pump can be a pip to get back in, I recall I found a good method but I don't recall the specifics...

I think I used a couple bolts to temporarily attach it to the cover it is against.

PM me if you want more specifics...

Transfer cases generally go a long time without repair, if the oil level is kept up. How many miles on your truck?

Every Dodge 4x4 I've ever driven eventually developed a rattle or buzz that seemed to be coming from the transfer case. Each time, it turned out to be a resonating transfer case linkage.

Try the duct tape fix. Take a new roll of duct tape, and punch out the cellophane from the center of the roll. Put the roll down over the transfer case lever so it rests on the boot. If that stops the noise, you probably have a resonating linkage.

By the way, it is important to drive in four wheel drive now and then to keep things lubed up.

Transfer Carnage

Adam,

I'm not sure how hard the 241's are to work one, most of the transfers are fairly simple. I'm going learn about the 241 as I have broken two transfercases on my last two sled pulls:(. Will tear in to mine on Monday. Larry
