So my 2014 has a filter/water separator mounted on the chassis, before it runs to the second fuel filter at the engine bay. Is your 2004 set up the same way and are you then running 3 filter systems?

Only run a 5 micron in stock position on engine.
If I were you I would at least have a water separator off aux.
If the area you live has winter fuel legislated at pumps in winter, and using power service or such for peace of mind, gelling should not be an issue. Tier 3 fuels are much more consistent in properties esp in winter.

B20 is mandated here in MN. I have a place that is on a winter schedule I stick with. My chassis filter I run a Rancor and that stock filter is set-up has a water separator integrated before it gets the the engine bay filter. It sounds like I should be good then. My main concern was preventing bacteria in the aux tank if I don’t put fuel in it.
