Anybody have experience or user info. on the aux. tank from TF? The one that replaces the spare tire.
Any troubles with the transfer pump, is the readout accurate, any failures (left stranded) etc... ?
Seems pricey, but is it a quality product for the money?

Have you seen the recent post by Shortshift?

I too have been looking for the 50 gal aft axle unit, but don't like the Trax computer gizmo... . Do like their Fill neck.

Aero Tanks in Corona CA has an aft axle 50 gal tank too, and it uses the solenoid transfer switch (I like that) but their fill neck goes to the rear wheel well, utilizing a trap door... Hmmmm. Can't quite picture that. They claimed that the Trans Flo dbl fill neck is prone to spitting back up the fuel. I'd say just fill slower.

I'm also waiting for the 58 gal replacement tank for the OEM 35 gal tank. Call Ben if you are curious about it.

I want both, giving me over 100 gallons. I plan to have a carpet kit in the bed and store the spare in there. #ad

Davison,
I checked into the Aerotank and they told me it used the existing filler neck. But, also had a lot of responses on bad customer service and product quality. Would like to know more on the 58 gal. oem replacement too. Who's Ben (Shortshaft?)? TFlow sounds like a quality product though.

Walker, I've got the Transfer Flow 38 gallon aft-axle tank with trax system. Have only run it about 13k miles, but so far it has worked exactly as advertised. It automatically activates the transfer pump to keep the tank levels within a few gallons of being equal. The display shows quantity in each tank, total quantity, pump status and system status. I'm pretty pickey, some say a PITA, and all components seem to be first rate quality. Let me know if you have specific questions.

Aero Tank - Bad Cust Service AND Poor Quality #ad
A lot of responses??

I was suspicious of them because I called for a brochure, 3 separate times over the course of a month! One time I called and asked them to leave one outside their front door and I'd pick it up that evening. I made the trip and it wasn't to be found!! A wasted trip... . Finally I did get one in the mail.

Then I got 3 more in the mail over the course of 2 weeks!! #ad
What a waste of paper and postage!

So now I am cautious. If they can't get something simple like this right, why should I trust them with something sensitive like a fuel tank?

I know it is separate departments, apples and oranges maybe, but it sure put my atenna up!!

Now your imput adds fuel to suspicions.

Anyone else out there have anything good or bad to say about Aero Tank?

Rich

Stan,

Thanks for the tip on availability. The capacity issue is kinda fixed. What I mean is they only have so much room to work with. (Aero Tanks has a 60 Gal replacement, but it hangs down below the frame! Some folks find that to be a negative. )

The sending unit: Did you see the post where the guy said he pulled his tank off and bent the float arm down and doesn't have a problem with readings anymore? Hmmmmm.

Another thought. What does Trans Flow and Aero use for a sender in their Aux tanks? Can't they use that instead of OEM?

Just my $. 03.

Richard

Just got a reply from Ben at Transfer Flow regarding the new replacement tank. It is priced at just over $700 and is 54 gallon capacity. It will use our existing factory sending unit and production will start 2/15/01. I was hoping for a capacity closer to 60 gallon and a new sending unit. Think I will seriously consider an aft-axle or in-bed tank which may cost a little more but will give more than just 19 gallon extra capacity.
