Three days ago, in the middle of the Kansas Tunpike, my truck sputtered and then died. Would not start so had to have it towed to Emporia Kansas. Emporia Motors took my truck in at 5:30 pm and had it back to me at 11:00 am the next morning. (Great Dealership) truck now running fine.

I had everything monitored except for the fuel pressure, that is soon to change!

Question now is besides a gauge what do I need to do to decrease the chances of this happening again? and where is the best point or points to monitor the fuel pressure? and what type psi should I expect on a stock '01?

depends on what kind of pump they put in. If it is the in-tank "upgrade"

most on here seem to report about 7 psi. .

My stock type lift pump puts out 12. 6 idle when warm out, and 12 in winter when truck has been run up to temp.

I see about 10 psi in the cold when just starting.

My lift pump went out and it would still run, the injector pump was pulling the fuel, but as I understand that's putting a strain on it and it may decide to go out on you and it is an expensive pump. The lift pump is about $175 neighborhood. I have had a pressure gage on it to monitor the lift pump pressure and it has been erratic in the past. Makes you wonder if the gage is erratic or if the lift pump is actually the problem. 2001. 5, I see around 13psi.
