The transfer pump is located in fuel tank?

Is this an aftermarket mod or OEM upgrade.

The transfer pump relay is mounted on firewall and a "fuel block" is located where I would expect to find transfer pump on left side of block.

I am questioning source, for future repairs

Thanks for any help

Originally the lift pump (or "fuel transfer pump") was mounted on the driver's side of the engine block below and to the rear of the fuel filter assembly. At some point Chrysler discontinued offering an exact replacement of the original lift ump and instead supplied a retrofit kit consisting of an in-tank pusher pump to replace the original tank module and extended wiring harness.

This change seems to have been spurred on by a high failure rate in the original lift pump design and a thought that the in-tank pump would be more efficient and reliable. The new pump is disliked by many owners because of its inherent low pressure capability and the difficulty in replacing.

Original and aftermarket block-mounted lift pumps are still available, just not from Dodge.

John L.

What you have is the retro fit kit from Ram,it has been proven to be very reliable. It makes for a worry free system on stock powered trucks.
