I was just in another state and picked up a bad vibration. Evidently a u-joint went (year old spicers greased every oil change-3000 miles) and the rubber in the mid-shaft bearing pounded out enough that there was 1/4 free slop. While limping home, I noticed the t-case seal leaking. Touched the extension housing and it was VERY hot. I kept the fluid over full trying to keep as much oil to the bearing as possible. Pulled the driveshaft and tore it apart. The mid shaft bearing that was also replaced last year when I had the whole shaft rebuilt, was not much more that powdered rust. The big question is do I replace the t-case shaft bearing? It doesn't feel like it has sideplay, and feels smooth when I rotate it by hand. What do those with t-case experience feel in your guts?
Thanks,
Dave
