Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Transfercase Issues

I have a 99 Dodge 1 ton with a NP241HD and in 2wd it seems to make very quiet grinding noise, allmost not noticable, but in 4wd it is unreal how loud the grinding noise is. The 4wd still works, low and high. Anyone had this problem or might have any ideas???
