OK... I am interested in the aft axle fuel tank from TransferFlow that takes the place of your spare tire.

I also carry a Lance camper, so the bed of the truck is RATHER FULL!

Is there ANYONE out there that has found a viable alternative. Spare tire hangers, Hitch, etc.

It is REAL nice carrying the spare, and I don't know if I can justify losing it for a little extra fuel. I already have the replacement tank on order (56 gals), but would like to look into the aft axle one IF I can find a decent place for the spare!

ANYONE have a good idea??? How do you do it???

First off, if you are referring to the Transfer Flow replacement fuel tank the capacity is 54 gallons.

I would suggest installing the larger replacement fuel tank first, live with that for a while and see if you really need more fuel capacity. If so, add the additional 38 gal. aft of axle auxiliary fuel tank and relocate your spare to the roof of the camper. Of course when the camper is not being hauled you would have to transfer it to the bed of your truck.

 EagleEye, I would agree with John that you should try the 54-gal. tank for a while before going further. I have that same tank and it meets my needs just fine. Yours may be different, but you won't know until you have it for a while.

With the aft axle tank, Transfer Flow routes the fuel inlet line along the frame and uses the stock fuel door to hold both inlets. Because there is little space left with their 54 gallon tank, they haven't made up an adapter kit yet to allow use of both tanks and put both fuel inlets in the same place.

Hence, at this time you can't use both. I looked into it recently because I wanted a second tank. I have and really like my 54 gallon tank, so I opted for the 98 gallon in-bed tank for my second tank. I know, it won't work with your camper, but for other readers of this thread, I thought I'd mention the alternative I took. I'll write up my findings on installing the 98 gallon tank in a future TDR. I just received the tank today, and it is super quality, as we have come to expect from Transfer Flow.
