I have a Transgo 48re kit and ready to service my trans. I have built a 700R4 so I am not concerned about my ability to install it.

My question is, it seems there are many other items to upgrade. Band strut, seals, apply lever, etc. Is it safe to only install the Transgo kit and do nothing else? Will the increased line pressures cause another failure?

Thanks in advance.

The OEM band hardware is pretty cheesy, you can install the shift kit without it but its taking a chance.

Since you have the VB out it would be a good idea to replace the anchor, band strut, and apply lever with better pieces. Also the front servo cover really needs to be done to eliminate potential warpage and leaking.

Another real danger is the stress it puts on the stock TC. You will want to watch the bolts and periodically check them for tightness, especially if you are addig any power or towing.
