I want to install this shift kit I got and in the directions on page 6 it says

STEP 2. Three Special Low-Wear Sealing Rings furnished for high pressures & hot use.

It shows in the directions pictures of what they call the (Forward Drum, Direct Drum, Pump) and install a ring on the forward drum and 2 on the pump. Does this mean I have to pull the transmission. For the people that have installed this kit did you drop the whole thing? Also any tips? How did you like it and how did it hold up to mods?

Thanks

You have to pull the transmission all the way out it's easier to do that if you pull the transfer case first. put the transmission on the bench pull the torgue converter out remove the front pump assembly then you can install the new rings. The shift kit works good holds the power my truck makes pretty good but I drive pretty sensible most of the time. The shift kit can make the one two shift pretty hard so I would not max those paticular modification out some where in the middle of what they call for is a good bet.

the transgo shift kits tfod-hd2 and tfod-diesel both the same kit are both designed to be assembled by removing valve body only. you do not need to remove transmission at all. my shop put it in last summer while i sat there and waited. it took them about 1. 5 hours.

Thanks for all the information, I think im gona take the whole transmission out then and just do it the right way. FANZDSLPWR, I would work if I only was going to do the work on the VB but there are seals that go in the transmission so I will be doin what jr7347 said except im gona go all out on the settings, i dont mind the roughness of the shifts. :)
