Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) transmissino leaks where dipstick oges in transmission

my transmission has a leak where the dipstick goes in the transmission

or it could have a bad pan gasket as i need to tighten the bolts from time to time

Either a rubber boot or o-ring that seals it. Simple fix!!!

this is the only leak this truck has

do I need to drop the pan more info needed

The last entry under Lube Tips states, "If you have a mysterious oil leak in your automatic transmission, check where the transmission dipstick tube goes into the case. You'll likely find a cracked "O" ring when you remove the dipstick tube. Replace the "O" ring for a quick fix. "

Unbolt the bracket that holds the tube in place and slipout. Put on a new o-ring (or rubber sleeve if that's what's on it). Put it back together. On my '98 I cleaned everything with strong solvent (don't recalll what kind) and applied a little RTV as extra insurance.

I hope not the *******/ dealer

the last time i was at the dealer they wanted $82. 00 for a filter minder

I would have to smoke a lot what ever before i deal with that bunch again

let the yipes go there and feel like they got a good deal

and the hole time the dealer is binding them over giving them the hi hard one

Bring the o-ring to a parts store, ie. Napa, if it isn't a bast size, they should have one.

you know what I have all the service manuals on that truck

that should tell me what size O ring and the best way to do it
