I'm fairly new to the turbo diesel world and think that my transmission is in some serious need of help. I own a 1998 Ram 2500 12v with 102k miles. It has a cam plate to give me about 270 rwhp and 600 ft lb of torque. It also has a K&N intake and a free flowing 3 inch Walker exhaust. When the truck tries to shift from first to second it will slip and slam second gear. Also the torque converter doesn't always lock up, it seems to slip. I tried some Lucas Transmission treatment but it only helped for about a week. I was told that I should rebuild the transmission with an ATS tripple lock converter, lock controller, and an ATS valve body (new clutches too). I do a fair ammount of heavy towing with my truck (10000-15000 lbs on average) as well as some performance drag racing. I could really use some insight as I don't want to be doing this again in another year. ~Thanks

I live in CT so if anyone know anyone close that would be a big help too.

Ditto for Scott at MassDiesel!! :-laf He jumped in, elbows deep in transmission guts when I "damaged" mine at Thunder in Muncie drags a few years ago. Good people!!

trans 911

NMongeau,

There are a lot of choices for a trans repair shop. I like to go to someone who I can visit with in person. All the trans guys are good its the location for me.

The triple disc is the best trans improvement for your$$$. The trans is the first upgrade on all 12v's. Once thats done then its bombs away.

Best of luck till then
