Hey guys something strange happened to me today while on the way to lunch. I got in my truck and went to leave the parking lot of my work and I was barely going anywhere?? So first thing I did was check the parking brake and it was not on. So I went down the road and the transmission was stuck in 2nd gear. No shift to third or first (from a stop light). so I turned around right away and headed back to work (less than a mile) while at the stop light I manually downshifted to first and it worked then to 2nd and then drive but the transmission still would not shift in to first or third by itself (limp mode maybe?). So when I got back I checked all the connectors to the transmission, checked fluid everything seemed ok. The truck has 102,000k miles on it and it is stock except for the AFE filter and never pulled anything on the heavy side. So when I got back and checked everything and couldn’t find anything wrong I disconnected the batteries for about 3 hours till it was time to go home. Plugged it all back in and smooth ride all the way home. Anyone have any ideas?? This one got me

Thanks

Sounds like it's going into limp mode.

The fix will probally be either the governor pres sensor or soleniod. I'd replace them

both. It's about that time at 102k anyway. OD soleniod probally outta be changed also

but you got to drop the VB to do that. All three of these items are about 70 bucks ea.

i talked to my friends uncle he has done work on trannies before and he said that sometimes the dodge transmission will have a miss shift and that will cause them to go in to a limp mode but he said after shutting the truck off it shuld reset. shuld i wait untill it acts up again (will it damage anything?) or shuld i start looking around to replace these parts ? how hard are they to replace ? any part # i need to look for ?

(he laso said to scan the truck for any Codes, and he also mentioned that i shuld borrow a good scanner like a snap-on because some times the smaller cheaper scanners might not pick up the transmission codes)

Thanks for the info
