ok, so I had a local transmission guy do the transmission twice and the transfer case.

I finally said let me do this right once and last time. So I take it to a place in Jersey, who used to advertise in the back of the TDR. They put what I think is a new Blumenthals transmission and transfer case, I drive it 250 miles and it's slipping and banging again. Now they are trying to tell me it's my rear, according to them there's a bind in the rear causing this. I need any and all advice on this, thanks in advance. I have a 97' 5spd with 3:54's

The rear end would have caused a banging before you brought it in to them. I would go get a few quarts of gear lube, a couple cans of brake clean, and a can of silicone. Pull the rear differential cover and inspect it. If it's bad, it'll be very obvious. Judging by your sig you know your way around vehicles. I'd look at it myself. If they are wrong I'd call them out on it.

Why do they keep replacing the T-case?

Josh

the t-case wasn't working properly and they told me it had metal shavings in it. the rear never made any noise and I'm going to check it Wed morning

Put the back axle up on stands and spin the axle by hand with the diff. opened and watch it. Should be obvious if it's got something binding it up in there. Check the play to see if it moves. Oh and check the pinion shaft nuts to make sure their tight.

Good luck

Good luck with your overpriced stock transmission w/ a triple disc convertor. I found that out the expensive way.

Where did this come from? Guy has a 5 speed.

Stop wasting your money Call Dave Goerend

Have Dave ship you a transmission ready to go with new torque converter also. 563 778 2719 He the best and worth the time. I drove 900 miles to have him do my trans.

I went to the truck this morning, definately has a bind, had drive shaft out,

spin yolk and found bind in the ring and pinion. she has play everywhere except where the bind is. loosened her up re torqued her still does it. Now for the good part, the guy wants 2,400 to fix, tells me special parts, hard to find $1,800. I told him I'll buy the parts on my own. Called standard gear $1,200 trying to get through to blumenthals and going to check rockland gear.

Guy has ahabit of marking up his parts, BIG markup. thanks for the responses.

when and if this transmission goes after warranty I will go to back to doing it myself. I will order from the best and swap it myself. I spoke to Dave G. he told me he only does autos.

I have the parts ordered from Blumenthals, $930 shipped. Big difference from

$1,800 ah. I guess it pays to shop around for pricing. Thanks for any advice

have a nice New Year.
