Has anyone just ordered one the high end transmissions and had a reputable local shop install it. I dont have time to make the travel and think I can get it done a little cheaper at my own shop that I use. If so has there been any issues that I may need to make them aware of?

I ordered a Transmission from DTT, I now own a new truck, the truck came alive and said Thank You!!!! I would highly recommend putting this company on your research list. They also have outstanding customer support.

i just ordered and installed a GOEREND transmission in my 97 a month ago. dave is a great guy and easy to work with and the trans is AWESOME!!! if you do install it in your shop-do a little research here on the crossmember install-it will save you a huge headache!

me and three of my buddies installed it in about 10 hours(only cost was about 3 12 packs to keep the help happy).

My record for having one in and out is 4. 5 hours. Two guys on a creeper under an 01. Of course this was the third time we had done one. First time took about 6. 5 hours. BY the way I second Goerend on his stuff. Fantastic guy to do business with.

I had Gorends install mine. As far as the actual removal and install time went, the 2 guys did mine in 4hrs.

19k trouble free miles on mine. :D

Dave did mine also In out rebuilt In one day and back

on the road. I do trust them. If you can get the truck there and they start at 9am and by 4 you are back on the road heading home. At least I was.

I asked the same question locally. The answer I got from DTT is yes you can order a transmission and have it installed locally but it can be more or less difficult depending on the year of the truck. I was also told that 97's were the most difficult to get the transmission to shift correctly. I don't know the details as to why specifically. Call DTT and talk to them, they seem willing to provide the straight scoop. As long as your comfortable with the shop your doing business with then I would say it is your option but you might want to check for potential warrenty impacts. I had one of the DTT certified installers do the work and am completely satisified both with the transmission and the installer.

Based on what I've heard/experienced, Goerends would be my second choice.
