I recently bought a 5th wheel & while pulling it home I noticed the transmission chattered in 1st & 2nd as I took off from any stop, after I was rolling at a good speed and went to 3rd I didn't notice it. 6spd was replaced at about 3000mi, only has 6500mi on it now. (Original was making a growling noise at low speeds, Chrylser woulnd let the dealer open it, Chrysler shipeed a new one, they wanted it replaced. )

Dealer said "Chatter on takeoff w/trailer is normal. Load changes the angle of the two piece drive shaft" Is this for real or is it BS. I have had the truck loaded with about 2 tons of crushed rock a couple of times and I didn't notice any chatter.

The Hitch weight is 2360 and the UVW is 12,980.

You'll get some chatter the slower you tow in the lower RPM's. The trick is the keep the RPM's up and the transmission will run a lot quieter. Any time you "lug" the transmission it will sound like a gourd full of seeds.
