I would appreciate any help you might be able to give me. I have a 98 1/2 3/4 ton quad cab and pulled a 10k 5th wheel for 4 1/2 years for a total of aprox. 50k of the 100k now on the truck. now i have a 14k 5th wheel and can feel a chatter or shutter under power. if I let off the trottle it will go away. I put a pressure lock on the transmission hopeing that would cure it, didn't help. Time for one of the heavy duty trannys? I have a power max 2 and it does it regardless of if I have it on or not. i also put 4'' exhaust and k&n air filter.

thanks for any help.

It sounds like the clutch in the converter is going out. You need at least a new converter. A trany with it would be good too. If you can turn up the line pressure a little might buy you some time but may also finish off you trany.

its time to upgrade your trans/torque convertor. With the weight your towing, your lucky it lasted this long. With 100K on it,and a lot of the miles towing. you will likely need a full rebuild /upgrade or an exchange trans setup.

A letter to the tech guy in Trailer Life this month told of a guy that had that problem and replaced his 2 piece shaft with a 1 piece and it solved the problem and the tech guy said that has been the cure in several cases.
