Hey guys,

Lately when I get done on any normal drive I can smell transmission fluid really strong from the front of the truck where the cooler is. There isn't any leaks and the fluid level is good. It smells nice and sweet like it's supposed to. Do transmission coolers go bad on the inside? It seems to still be running the same temp as always. Thanks

My cooler line leaked at the connection. The clip that held the connection together wore a hole in the raised part, very small hole. Unless you have a shift kit in the transmission it will not leak when it is in park. There is no cooling flow when in park and that is why it is not a good idea to let it idle for long periods. The police had a real problem with overheating from this also.

Hope this helps

Robert

i'm planning to dig into it this weekend. My dtt has flow all the time from what I'm told so it should leak in park. Maybe I'll just take it out and replace it... we'll see
