FozSweet53 is installing a new NADP transmission in soon and he recalls that the transmission cooler hot line off a older truck has the 1/8 npt test port in it that a gauge sender can be installed. Does anyone have any clue what he is talking about? Foz needs the part number so i can order a line this week.

The older 2nd gen trucks. I know for sure 96, because we had a few at work, but probably other years as well.

I guess i will stop in to Petersen and have them look on the computer. Muddy said that DTT sells a fitting to do the same thing. Nate , are you cummin to the Bomb Party??

Steve

Steve, Make sure and buy the stainless braided flex hose that DTT sell's for that oil cooler tube, the one that comes with it has mild steel fittings that dont last long.

Dave

The truck is a 99 so where is the proper spot to put the sensor to get the hottest reading?? Foz was thinking he wanted the older cooler line? I will let him know about the DTT hose. Foz is in Austin Nev working and he doesn't have any internet and cell svc is sceptical.

Steve

IF he has the water heat exchanger for the tarnny, you want to make sure you only have 1 (one) anti drain valve (if you have any). I think the water heat exchanger has one in it and the new line MIGHT have one on it. ONLY 1.

I took both of mine out to keep the flow higher. YES, I have to idle the engine 30 seconds before placing it in gear to be sure the converter is full of fluid, but the transmission stays nice and cool (not more than 200*) even in the hottest temps pulling or not. Fan assisted aux cooler when backing the 5er.

All I did on my truck was cut the hot line at the bend where it goes to the tank on the side of the block. I put a big brass T in it's spot. Been fine for over a year now.
