I called my dealer yesterday to arrange an appointment to have the trans. cooler line replaced per the Customer Satisfaction Notification. They have one and set it aside for my appointment next week. The rep. also told me that if they need to replace the cooler, they would have to order one. They would have to keep the truck until the part comes in. The rep. said they would arrange a rental for me.

This dealer is 40 miles away. I run a small business and don't have the time to run back and forth if they deem a cooler is necessary. I'm considering going to a local dealer and having the work done. At least I'd be minutes away without too much inconvenience.

The way the notification reads, the line replacement takes about 1 hour. If needed, the cooler takes another 2 hours. I felt that this wording implied that the dealer would have a cooler on hand.

Here's my question. Is the trans. cooler one of those parts that is not kept in stock?

Thanks, Ron

My guess is they don't keep the cooler in stock. When I had mine done, they told me the same thing. If all they had to replace was the line, there was no problem. But if the cooler was bad, they would have to order one. The line replacement took them less than an hour. In fact, they had me in and out in less than an hour, and I didn't even have an appointment. I had actually stopped there for something else. A good dealer story, actually. Especially since I didn't even buy the truck from them.
