Question for the auto transmission experts. It appears that my truck is not downshifting when I come to a rolling stop or rounding corners. When I stop completely it is just fine. For example, if I come to a stop sign and don't stop completely (of course, I would never do that) the only way to get going again is either stomp on it or manually pull it down to first. I realize there are many factors with this problem, but any suggestions would be appreciated. Also, another side note. When I am rolling along around 30 or higher and I manually pull the shifter down to 2nd or 1st nothing happens, is this normal? Of course, I know this isn't a smart thing to do I just noticed it when I was troubleshooting. All other autos I drive when you manually downshift it downshifts.

fyi - I have a DTT valve body and a Georand brothers TC.

Thanks,

Dan

Dan,

I looked up your profile sheet and i see you did your vb in

Feb 2001, i dont recall speaking to you recently but if you need a hand you know where to find us.

Two problems that come to mind, . . sticky valve in the VB or second gear band may neeed adjustment. The truck shouldn't drop into first until below 10 MPH or so but u can shift into second gear at any time. Sounds like it may be going into second gear, but not holding, missadjusted or worn compression band for second gear. Try this, ..... stop, take off in second gear let it shift into second gear, hold it for a sec, and see if it nuetrals when u let of the throttle or if it pulls u back. This will tell u if the band is getting worn and needs adjustment
