transmission shop forgot the O ring on the fill tube so it leaks. When the re-installing the fill tube does the O ring seal flush at the top of the transmission housing or is it supposed to slide into the housing to seal? Doesn't want to go deeper than flush, but now the mounting bracket hole won't line up by about a 1/4 ".

Any ideas?

If you have the original tube yes the o-ring has to drop into the housing to seal. Make sure to lube it and use care to avoid cutting it.

I had a problem with my leaking on my first gen and i got tired of messing with it and bought a Lokar trans dipstick the best money i ever spent I love it you can put it anywhere and it work's great it fit's deeper in the pan and seals great, no leaks at all.
