I would think to have to have the transmission "Flushed" and filter changed, it should be around $40-$50, as around my area it is about that to have it done, and have the Amsoil installed, with you providing the oil. As to the stock fluid being synthetic, yes it can be called and marketed as a synthetic, but in reality it is not a "true" synthetic, as it uses a "GROUP" III base stock. In the case of Amsoil ATF, it is 100% Synthetic, and uses a GROUP IV base stock, and is recommended by Amsoil to have drain interval of 100,000 miles,(NORMAL SERVICE) and 50,000 miles. (SEVERE SERVICE) So yes, there is an advantage using the Amosil ATF:Longer Service life, decreased wear, and lower operating temperatures. How much should I be spending in $$ to have the trans flushed and filter changed? And since the stock fluid is synthetic, is their an advantage to switching to amsoil?
Thanks Wayne. I currently use amsoil in the engines of all my vehicles including my wifes Toyota Camry, all with great success. Which amsoil trans fluid do I need to get?
