Went to the Stealer today for a transmission pan gasket and filter. The parts guy brought me the metal filter, told him i wanted the paper one instead. He stated the the service guys told him that the metal filter had been fixed and there was not a problem with them anymore... ... curious if any of you had heard that yet?

Think I'll stick with Napa's filter. Everyone I know use them with good luck. A lot cheaper to and probably just as good.

I use the earlier style dacron filter and have had no problems. It is less expensive and has a larger filter area. Remember the FSM calls for 35 in lb on the filter screws. Don't use a ratchet to crank down on them as they go through the valve body. Remember to check in neutral, several times as fluid sticking to filler tube can stick to dipstick and give false reading. also i'd suggest driving the truck for a couple of miles and rechecking the fluid level---you may have to do this a couple of times------chris
