Attention: TDR Forum Junkies I took my truck in for service before my 3 yr warranty ran out this month ('04 CTD Quadcab 1T SRW) with 14,200 miles. I complained that I had run the truck with a GPS and found the speedo to be slow by 1 1/2 MPH and the overhead guage off by 1MPG over time. I asked for a transmission reflash while they had the truck. They found a TSB and did the reflash under warranty.
Immediately here is what happened:
The MPH onthe speedo matches the GPS exactly!
Driving home from the dealer at 65MPH showed an increase of instant MPG to 23 MPG where it was only 19MPG going there.
The overall average MPG I don't know yet but they went up 2MPG driving around the same as I always did.
The transmission shift points seem quicker and the transmission now locks up at around 35MPH where before it didn't lock up until after 40MPH or higher.
The engine sounds better and starts easier too.
Maybe a lot of that is in my mind but the result of the flash seems to have improved the shifting and driveability of the truck.
I think I'll keep this truck a while longer now that it is fixed!
