I just had my transmission fluid changed in my 02. Just before filing the receipt, I noticed that they used ATF+3. The manual calls for ATF4. Is this a problem ? Should I take it back and make them change it out ?

Thanks,

I don't see it being the end of the world, though if you paid for it, I'd raise that question.

I just use Dextron/Mercon.

I also ran DexronIII/Mercon in my 1999 47RE (it was a ATRA built transmission)... but I also added a bottle of LubeGuard to it at every drain and refill... I drained the fluid in the pan about every 10k (about 6 quarts every other oil change).

I have been running Dexron in mine for over 100k miles. I change the oil in the pan every 15k miles. I add a pint of 5W-30 full synthetic motor oil with the Dexron every change. No problems.

I don't see that the ATF+3 will cause any problems.
