I don't know what the differences are but in my manual it requires ATF 3 so that is what I put in. Next transmission oil change is going to be AmsOil. I have the AmsOil waiting to go in. Sorry I couldn't tell you about any differences.

I use the manual recommended ATF 3, I dont think there is a difference between the two.

There are differences between ATF +3 and ATF +4. Bill Kondolay (of Diesel Transmission Technology) detailed this information in a post recently and on his Q&A BB within his website. If I remember correctly, Bill said the ATF +3 seems to exhibit a little less slippage and the ATF +4 provides better lubrication to bearings etc.

Amsoil's Universal ATF (their latest synthetic ATF offering) is rated ATF +4.

I think my question needs some explaination.

What I was asking was: is "Dexron III" the same and or compatiable with "ATF III". In other words can I use it in my "Puppy"

Thanks again JIM

DO NOT USE DEXRON 111, in your Chrylser products, it can cause severe clutch chatter, the friction modifiers in the two oils are completely different from one another.

That includes all chrysler products, if you own a chrysler of any model , the rule still applies.
