Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Transmission Flush

I have a 2001 2500 4x4 CD w/ an automatic transmission. The truck has 105000 miles and I was just wondering if anyone has some input on transmission flushes.



My local shop (Tanner transmissions) do a power flush which involves taking the pan and filter off and hooking into the valve body and flushing the entire trans out.



I have read a few posts and am not sure if i picked up right, is there a special ATF that comes from the dealer?? Would I be ok doing the flush?? Do i even need to flush at all?



The trans is not giving me any problems, i was just thinking of this as preventive maint.



Any input would be greatly appreciated.

it would be be best not to do a flush with that many miles on the trans.



why look for problems? just do a simple drop of the pan a replace the filter and check the bands.
