Archived transmission gone again

Got 85k on this one. No symptoms, one big slip and gone. Plenty of fluid. Think the pump went. I have not heard from them yet. Had it towed to the transmission shop that built it last time. I checked with goferend, but they are back logged. I always thought I would drive up there and let them take care of it if I had failing symptoms. No luck there. Goferend is only selling parts right now unless you are willing to wait. Thinking about having my transmission guy build one with their parts. Anybody have any ideas? He says he can build one real similar to them for the same price and warranty. That way I stay local and do not need to ship one, or pay to have somebody put it in. Can anybody from the Kansas City area chime in?

Have you tried contacting DTT or Suncoast they have good reputation for after market trans.

I think a durable high performance rebuild requires more than just parts. Part of the process in building a 47/48RE MOPAR automatic is knowing the tricks and techniques that must match the hard parts.

Your local small town automatic transmission rebuilder is not likely to know all the tricks to building one that will last. I would find a DTT or other well known performance builder. I had a DTT which worked great. I have heard lots of praise for Suncoast here in TDR but have no personal experience with them.

When it comes to buying a MOPAR rebuild you can buy cheap or you can buy one that will stand up behind a Cummins pulling heavy loads. You ca't buy both.

Give Dusty a call at HTS transmission (877-6230-9122). I have one of his transmissions and its been a keeper. Good personnal service. Just be sure you tell him what you want. He can build it, but you must define the parameters that you use it under. He used to advertise in the TDR on the business referal page. Ken Irwin

call suncoast or have your trans guy call and talk to em... . they are proud of their stuff and will help him with the lil tricks like HBarlow was talking about...
