I changed the fluid in my 47RE and adjusted the bands as well. I used Autozone's Coastal transmission fluid which is supposed to be ATF+4. My owners manual didn't give me a capacity and the parts guy looked it up for me and said 4 quarts. It shows full on my dipstick (the dipstick fits odd and I don't fully trust it's reading) but the transmission slips a bit on hard left turns. I'm assuming I don't have quit enough fluid because it never slipped before. I've done a search for capacities but really didn't come up w/ anything. So the question is: How much fluid does the 47RE take when you do a fluid and filter change?

According to my 2001 Service Manual (page 21-717), "the service fluid fill after a filter change is approximately 3. 8 liters (4. 0 quarts). "

EDIT: just out of curiosity... without the service manual, where did you get the specs for band adjustment?

EDIT2: nevermind. I found what (at a glance) look like the service manual's procedures on Fritz's site. Weird that the refill spec isn't there, as well. Which adjustment spec did you follow?
