A question from my wife:

Is the transmission hump in the '04 HO manual bigger than the hump in the '03 SO auto we had before? The console is definitely different with the manual but she seems to think her passenger floor space is smaller.

In other words she needs more room for her purse. ;)

What is that hook for anyway?? Is it designed for something in particular or is just to hang your "whatevers" with??

Also, on my new O4' Lariat, I have two buttons on the center console between my seat heater buttons that are "blanks" -- what am I missing here? Is there some option that I don't have that uses those buttons??

p. s. Did I mention I just bought a new 04'

:D

The hook is taken

She made me a nice custom trash bag to hang on the hook. Black cloth to match the black dash.

No big deal, she was just curious.

The hook is for a garbage bag. Now wouldn't that look nice?

I've inquired at the dealer on several occasions about the Mopar Trash Bag Accessory Kit. They always seem to be backordered. Must've been quite a run on 'em. :D

I bet the bigger transmission hump is there to accomodate the Allison transmission coming in January when the contract with GM to use the Allison exclusively in GM pickups expires. This would explain why the diesel option isn't showing on the dodge.com build your truck page. :D

I know and have talked to a number of Duramax owners with failed Allisons. I found thaft disturbing until I was told G. M. got the baby Allison and not a real H. D. one. Also if truck is BOMBED the Allison has a fail safe that sends into limp in mode. I think a bypass was being worked on or maybe its out by now. I know two Duramax trucks that need to go into the shop with Allisons screaming like a bad powersteering pump and BOTH won't start below about 38 degrees.
