I just replaced the crankshaft position sensor because it threw a code. Now the transmission is shifting rapidly up and back down between 2-3 or 3-OD at light

throttle. I don't think this is related to the cps being replaced but some of you guys may know different. Seems like I read a post about "noise" may

cause this and that the fix for it was to wrap a certain wire from the tps with aluminum foil. Does anyone else remember seeing this or did I have 1 beer too

many whenever it was I think I read that post? Any other advice will be much

appreciated. This shifting up and down is a PIA! TIA

Did this just start after you change the sensor? The transmission shifting in and out are you sure its not the old problem of the torque converter lock and unlocking. That is a common problem and there is a ton of info here about it. The wire you are refering to is a black wire with a brown stripe, from the alternator to ground behind the right battery. There are several fixes that have been tried if its the converter. 1- reflash by the dealer. 2- A filter from DTT that filters out the noise . 3- Cleaning all the ground points ,including the negative battery terminals. 4- Replacing the APPS. Hope this helps you.

I believe it is the TC like you said. The wire you referred to is the one I was

looking for. I'm going to try that and clean the APPS. Thanks for the info.

I'll post the results when I get it done.

I decided to do the most simple thing first so I wrapped the wire from the alternator to the negative post on the passenger side battery with aluminum foil and then wrapped that with electrical tape. It worked! I have driven the truck 2 days and there has been no "hunting" and the shifts have been like a new transmission. Once again the TDR has saved me! Thanks again. Iwould advise anyone with this problem to try this fix first.

I did this also, worked great.

No you didn't have one too many beers. It was posted. I just did it last weekend. (the only time I get the truck away from "mama") It cured my lock/unlock and huntng problem.
