:) My truck is going to need a transmission rebuild sooner or later. Just need some ideas. One thing for sure I do not want a stock rebuild and end up with crap. The truck has 133,000 on it so far and it just seems like it dogs the motor. Also have to back off on the throttle a little to get it to shift. It holds at 2000-2300 rpm. Just seems like I am driving a sit and spin.

What do you think I could get for 3000 smackers. I also know that Dave Gerrand is only 3. 5 hours away. I don't want to talk to him till I am ready and have some cash stashed. Thanks!

I think you answered your own question. May need a bit more if you get billet shafts. Do it once and do it right. Each R&R cost another $500. For me it is a 1. 5 hour drive to Bill's DTT shop in Canada, so I got the best of both worlds.

snoking, Go with Dave,I hauled mine from St. Louis to Dave and I will do it again if it ever needs it,best money I've spent so far, Don

Go with Dave Goerend. You will not be dissappointed. There is a reason he is so busy. Just think he doesn't advertise much either. Almost all of his business is word of mouth.

Wrong guy, JOrtman was looking for transmission, I already have a great aftermarket transmission. SNOKING

I just visited Bill up at DTT for a new transmission 2 weeks ago. I wish I had done this when the truck was new! You will be absolutely amazed at how much power the stock torque converter eats up. I can't speak for how well the other builders trannies work but I think anything will be better than stock. Your sig does not show if you are bombed or not. If so, I think $3000 will not get you to a happy place with a transmission rebuild.

Daves rebuild with a triple disk, and VB I think is just under $3000. You might want an input shaft if you think you will be above 450 hp or are going to drive it hard. Unfornately some of the companies tell you you need fancy aluminum pieces. These items do work and are improved, but in many applications unneeded.

 Thanks for the replys guys. Its just that some of this stuff is a little over my head. I need some education on some of these fancy parts and how everything comes together. Like a lot of people have said on here that the stock transmission robs power out the engine and thats my case. Crappy torque coverters tend to do that. I also know that a good torque converter is not cheap. Anyway, for example at work I drive a 2000 old body style 3/4 ton GMC, which has an 4L80E transmission (stock). It would be nice if my truck could shift like the GMC at work.
