Leaking Trannyfluid

Hey Guys,

I have a 2006 Mega Dually 5. 9, Auto, 4x4. Transmission is leaking and I'm having a hard time pin-pointing the leak. Fluid is pretty much scattered from the front pump area to the transfer case with a heavier concentration at the pan area. Are these 48RE's prown to leak anywhere in specific. The transmission only has 32000 miles on it. Other than the leak, no issues.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Tony

If the fluid level is too high, these trannies are known to puke some out until the proper level is achieved. What is the dipstick saying? Are you losing fluid over time, or are you just noticing the wetness?

Kry,

Good thought and thanks for the input but the fluid level does get low which made me look for the leak. Kinda upsets me because when I looked under the truck and saw the transmission fluid I also noticed mt front diff pinion seal also leaking... ... ... ... sux!

my 06 had the rear seal rubber separated from the metal and poured out atf without warning. Dropped transfer and did both transfer front and transmission rear seal. @ about 40k

guys, thanks. I'll give it a look today. Obviously I hope its dipstck grommet.

Is this a dealer item or local parts place?

well, to be fair, honest and of course check my ego... ... ... . :)

i found the leak and its obvious i confused the red anti freeze with transmission fluid. there's a rubber coupling just below the turbo. both top and bottom clamps were very loose causing anti freeze to leak/spray under pressure. however, you guys having me look at the dip stick area is the reason i found it. tightened the clamps, we're good to go!

thanks
