I should of painted my truck transmission red(not Colorado purple) to match the red transmission fluid I lost tonight all over it and everything else. . That stupid hose with check valve blew out where the factory crimp on the bottom is/was! I have transmission juice from one end to another and had to be towed. Plan on seeing about maybe a line built at an auto parts jobber that builds these lines. I'm glad it wasn't last week when we had a foot of snow! Does anyone know the fitting sizes so I can get one made tomorrow without first removing the old one?

I thought about grinding the hose crimp off and using a piece of hose rated for heat and oil with hose clamps. Good or bad idea? I need to get my truck fixed ASAP but still be safe from future problems in this spot. Thanks, Herb

Don't know your setup exactly. On my 94 I just used 3/8NPT and 1/4 NPT threaded with barbed fittings for the hose as needed in the transmission and cooler up on the side of the engine and connected everything up with hydraulic hose. 1/2" Power steering hose works. There is not a lot of pressure and the only concern is that over time I don't know how the powersteering hose would hold up to heat but for one summer that is what i used and when I removed it it still felt solid as new. I replaced it with some good quality hydraulic hose just for peace of mind not because of anything that told me it would not serve well. The reason I mention all this now is that you are in a pinch and power steering hose and some barbed fittings will get you on the road in a short time. Don't forget some hose clamps.

Just installed an inline filter on the neighbors truck Sunday. Just put a small flare on the ends of the lines after cutting out a section and used 1/2 oil rated hose from Napa with hose clamps. The flare is there so the hose can't slip past the clamp.
